Substance Misuse
Our work on substance misuse covers treatment, prevention and enforcement. National policy makers want to make decisions based on the most robust evidence base possible. Our research and evaluation on substance misuse is extensive and includes:
- The evaluation of drug testing in the criminal justice system (commissioned by the Home Office);
- The evaluation of the Children and Young People’s Drug Interventions Programme (commissioned by the Home Office);
- A large study to increase understanding of illegal drug markets (commissioned by the Home Office);
- The evaluation of Dedicated Drug Courts (commissioned by the Department for Constitutional Affairs);
Building on our large health practice we also work extensively with the commissioners of local substance misuse services such as Drug Action Teams and Primary Care Trusts. Our projects range from the development of tools to better understand the substance misuse treatment needs of local populations, to developing business cases for new treatment services and reviewing existing ones.
