Ensuring that people can access high-quality information, advice and help protect their legal rights, are key concerns of policy makers and make up an important part of the Government’s fight against social exclusion.

Our work in this sector has allowed us to combine an in-depth understanding of the civil justice sector with the latest thinking from across the public sector. Our work has introduced innovative research methods to generate evidence to support national policy makers while also taking us into the local offices and drop-in centres of front-line providers. Key projects undertaken by Matrix include The Independent Review of the Community Legal Service of which David Lammy, then Minister in the Department of Constitutional Affairs said:
