Modelling and Decision Analysis

writing on the screen

Matrix utilises a mix of mathematical, statistical, and operational research techniques to provide our clients with not just data, but with information and insight to minimise the complexity and uncertainty involved in planning and decision making. This enables us to provide our clients with solutions that bring quantifiable benefits which may be directly financial or those which are realised through efficiency, cost avoidance, and strategic value.

But insight and information alone is insufficient. For this reason we also support clients in the interpretation; providing support from strategic decision making through to the operationalising of this. Our work involves:

  • Capacity planning with a focus on change management to ensure that planning is meaningful.
  • Population based modelling to understand the impact of changes to the community’s population on public service requirements.
  • Supporting decision making and facilitating scenario analysis, leaving clients with a clear audit trail.
  • Developing approaches for increased throughput such as improved scheduling and allocation of resources.
  • Benchmarking against various targets, national profiles and other providers/competitors and using these to help set stretch targets.
