Matrix held an evening seminar to mark the recent merger with Morgan Harris Burrows LLP. Prof Ron Clarke was the guest speaker.

The Matrix Knowledge Group recently merged with the crime risk management team of Morgan Harris Burrows LLP and held an evening seminar on Wednesday 24th September 2008 to mark the occasion. To find out more about the merger, please read the press release.

We were very pleased that Professor Ron Clarke, accepted our invitation to join us from the US to be our guest speaker for the evening. His Business, Crime and Terrorism presentation covered the role business has in creating and preventing crime. Professor Ron Clarke is a professor at the School of Criminal Justice at Rutgers University in Washington DC, many of you will know him from his former position as Head of the Home Office Research and Planning Unit.

As well as being founding editor of Crime Prevention Studies Professor Clarke is author or joint author of 200 books, monographs and papers including, most recently, Superhighway Robbery (Willan Publishing, 2003), Designing out Crime from Products and Systems (Criminal Justice Press, 2005) and Crime Analysis for Problem Solvers (US Dept of Justice, 2005). With Graeme Newman he completed Outsmarting the Terrorists which was published in 2006. Professor Clarke is also Associate Director of the Center for Problem-Oriented Policing, a virtual institute (www.popcenter.org) supported by the US Office of Community Oriented Police Services.
