Evidence of effectiveness & value for money

The Monument Trust, LankellyChase Foundation and The Bromley Trust wanted to know the economic case for and against the use of prison sentences in England and Wales. The information is useful for funding decisions and to contribute to a high profile policy issue. The research needed to be independent and of the highest quality.

A systematic & transparent evidence review was combined with an economic model, linking information on the effectiveness, costs & value of different sentencing options. Matrix delivery included press releases and a formal launch event. You can view the report here.

The research produced new findings on this key policy issue of use to charitable trusts, policymakers and charities providing services. The methods meet academic and government standards, thereby safeguarding the independence and validity of the findings with external audiences.
