Department of Communities & Local Government (CLG) – Supporting People

We developed a web based cost modelling tool on behalf of the Dept of Communities and Local Government (CLG) for use by Supporting People commissioners. It was developed to assist them in determining what local Supporting People services should cost and provides a consistent means of evaluating service price.

It enables commissioners and providers, as part of their value for money (VFM) strategy, to get a better understanding of costs. The tool is centrally hosted to enable benchmark comparisons between organisations.

Our project team worked closely with CLG and stakeholders to define a clear specification and build the tool. The tool enables users to model different cost factors, as these can vary between local areas, along with service design details to build an indicative set of reasonable cost levels.

The tool went live in September 2007 and is successfully being used by Supporting People commissioners to determine costs.
